Infrared Rudder Inspection: Rudders are notorious for the accumulation of water. The above rudder was inspected for a client that was planning a trip to the South Pacific. After using heating techniques, an Infrared Camera was used to look at the process of cooling. The Infrared image shows clearly the components that make up the rudder and shows no delaminations or water intrusion. Moisture meters are usually not helpful in that they often will show false readings due to metal in the paint or moisture that is still present in the paint.
