Infrared Delamination: The thru-hull area was heated then imaged using an Infrared Camera. The bedding about the thru-hull looks to be normal, however there is an anomaly that shows a possible delamination (circled). The area circled was tested using a small hammer. There was no sound indication of a delamination. That is not unusual...tapping on the inside may show a different result. The owner was told to investigate from the inside of the hull. It has been observed that an anomaly seen while shooting from the outside using an Infrared Camera, often times will not be indicated by hammer sounding (tapping) from the outside. In this case, there may be a separation (delamination) a no lam (lack of resin) closer to the inside surface of the hull. Yes, an Infrared Inspection can sometimes show such detail (anomalies).
